Community

Burt Lumber is a proud supporter of the local Long Island community, the citizens and loyal customers who help to make it a better place.

Carmen's Corner

Burt Lumber recently facilitated the addition of a memorial bench to “Carmen’s Corner,” dedicated to Carmen Ramos Calixto Laas, a beloved member of the community who made her mark caring for the grounds and watering the flowers at the intersection of Pulaski Road and New York Avenue. After connecting with Carmen’s daughter, Lehti, at a neighborhood beautification meeting, local artisan Con Artist enlisted the assistance of Burt Lumber to create the beautiful bench which now sits there...a true community effort!

Skyeler's Eagle Scout Project

Skyeler Zachoury Jackson of Troop 113 in Centerport recently earned the prestigious honor of Eagle Scout after completing construction on a new staircase and patio at the Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center in Huntington.

Jackson received ample assistance from the community, both in the form of workers helping with the manual labor required, and in donations of needed supplies and funds. Burt Lumber contributed a saw blade, screws, work gloves and safety glasses, as well as a portion of the wood that was used for the project.

Skyeler’s Eagle Court of Honor Ceremony was held on June 24th of 2018, and was attended by family, friends, fellow Scouts and community supporters, including Raf and Evangelina Lanza of Burt Lumber.

Burt Lumber congratulates Skyeler on this outstanding achievement!

An Evening of Wine Under the Stars

An Evening of Wine Under the Stars, sponsored by the Huntington Historical Society, is held each September on the property of the Dr. Daniel Kissam House on Park Avenue and serves as the organization's single largest fundraiser to help preserve the history of the surrounding community.

Countless businesses and local supporters come together each year to donate their time and services to this event, which features an array of wines and beers, along with gourmet hors d'oeuvres and a wide selection of raffle prizes.

In recent years, one of the more prominent auction items has been a barn donated by Burt Lumber Inc. This past year, the lucky high bidder was Sean Bickoff {pictured with his barn} of Borg & Borg Insurance, another local Huntington business.
